Where each colour came from

Fabric A
#EADFCBthe cream field, 50.2% of the quilt. Warm enough to read as cream rather than grey, deep enough to keep a visible step below the snow. -
Fabric B
#124F35deep spruce, 18.2%. The dark anchor; without it a cream-and-red quilt has nothing to sit on. -
Fabric C
#C9223Athe true red, 12.3%. Pulled slightly cool so it reads fresh rather than brick. -
Fabric D
#FFFEFAsnow, 7.0%. Near white, which is what makes the cream read as cream. -
Fabric E
#5CB176fresh green, 7.9%. A first draft used a mint at this slot and it disappeared against 50% cream; this is saturated enough to hold its own. -
Fabric F
#E4485Eberry, 4.3% — the accent. Drafts that put an orange-leaning red here read autumn rather than Christmas; the berry keeps it in the holly family.
